ASTEROID MINING
In this mission, and others, the crew will need to harvest minerals and ice/water from asteroids and planetary rings. The Asteroid Mining process involves all crew teams, so read over these steps once you kow which crew member you will be. Then, go into your crew member folder above and become familiar with the spreadsheet, especially the part you are involved in.
When the crew flies up next to an asteroid they can do a scan to determine its contents if any. There are 5 level of ore content and they are:
Asteroid Ore Quality: Quantity Available (kg)
Pristine Reserves: 10,000
Major Reserves: 8,000
Common Reserves: 6,000
Low Reserves: 3,000
Depleted Reserves: 0
For Mining the Rings around certain planets, the classifications of the rings are as follows:
Planet Ring Ore Quality: Quantity Available (kg)
Metallic: 10,000
Metal Rich: 8,000
Rocky: 3,000
Icy: 1,000
Ore Types: GP/kg
Transition metals: 1000
Actinoids: 800
Lanthanoids: 700
Alkali: 600
Post Transition: 400
Metalloids: 300
Ice Types: GP/kg
Pink: 1000
Blue: 700
White: 400
Grey: 100
The mining process involves every crew member. Some steps can occur simultaneously, while others are dependent on a prior crew members work being done first:
